Growing up in the vibrant and diverse community of Van Nuys during the late 70s and early 80s, Ricardo Hernandez, better known as DJ Slick Rick, cultivated a deep and abiding passion for music. His journey began with a love for classic rock, which soon blossomed into an appreciation for a wide spectrum of genres, including freestyle, hip hop, house, and cumbias. This eclectic taste, combined with his natural talent, quickly established him as a well-rounded DJ known for his smooth transitions and impeccable mixing skills. In the late 80s, Slick Rick joined the Latin Gentz, a popular local DJ crew renowned for hosting some of the most memorable parties at Cal State Northridge (CSUN). From the 80s through the late 90s, the Latin Gentz became a fixture at all musical events at CSUN, and Slick Rick's seamless sets and infectious energy drew in thousands of students. His reputation as a skilled and captivating DJ made him highly sought after. After retiring in the 2000s, Slick Rick's passion for music couldn't stay dormant. In 2018, he emerged from retirement with the creation of All Groove House Radio Station, further cementing his legacy. Despite his talent and success, DJ Slick Rick is widely recognized as one of the most humble and approachable individuals you could ever meet, making his positive impact on the music scene even more significant.
